COVID-19 Response & Business Continuity (2020)
In 2020, a sudden outbreak of epidemic spread rapidly from Wuhan to the whole country, affecting everyone. With support from all sides, JISCO, seeking full cooperation and active collaboration across the company, bases, customers, within and outside the country, gathered all available forces, made every effort to ensure the supply of materials, and carried out a number of initiatives both internally and externally to fight the epidemic with practical action.

This page records JISCO’s COVID-19 response and business-continuity activities during 2020. The measures, quantities and operational arrangements described below relate to that historical period and should not be interpreted as current-year policies or statistics.
In the context of the important and arduous epidemic with complexity and urgency, JISCO formed a command system for the prevention and control of the epidemic at the first time, strengthened unified leadership and unified command, made the work more detailed and practical, proposed management methods during the epidemic, and effectively guaranteed the health and safety of all employees. Taking advantage of its own location and industrial advantages, the company provided steel, oxygen and other special materials to Wuhan,
a city in Hubei Province. Its employees volunteered to stand on the front line of battling the epidemic, setting an outstanding example for the whole society. Based on the value of “synergy in integrity”, JISCO has actively shared its experience in fighting the epidemic with its partners both at home and abroad and has provided selfless assistance to help our compatriots within China and abroad to overcome the epidemic.
We won the initiative and precious time for the war against the epidemic. During the first week when supplies were most critical, 530,000 masks, 27,000 bottles of disinfectant water, 1,500 bottles of hand sanitizer and 243 testing kits were delivered to all units of JISCO, ensuring the normal operation of the company’s production and operation.
Procurement of Epidemic Prevention Supplies
After the outbreak of the epidemic, the “Notice on the Prevention and Control of the Covid-19 Infection Pneumonia Epidemic” issued by the company has further clarified the work system for the prevention and control of the epidemic, strengthened the ability of the four bases to collaborate with the system, formed two professional working groups for the procurement of emergency supplies and production operation. The work requirements were implemented in each unit and each post, and the required materials and logistics were coordinated at the first time. As the production and operation department responsible for emergency supplies, the Party Committee of the Equipment and Materials Procurement Center, with the belief of “mission must be achieved”, gave full play to the synergy
of resources of “one company, multiple bases” to provide strong supplies
or the company to respond epidemic and fight it.
Resume Work and Production
Each branch innovatedwork approaches to ensure the entrance of raw materials to the plant and the stability of production logistics, and at the same time, performed a better process in advanceso as to ensure product quality. Facing the adverse impact on traffic control in the someareas and on raw fuel, materials and logistics due to the failure of some suppliers to resume production and work, the company strived to overcome difficulties and continuously strengthened communication and coordination to minimize the impact brought by the epidemic. We planned ahead and made comprehensive arrangements to organize the return to work of more than 2,600 construction workers in an orderly manner, so as to strike a well balance between epidemic prevention and company construction, which could guarantee for the full resumption of the steel three blast furnace system construction. The company also made concerted efforts to solve the practical problems such as unaccessible to raw and auxiliary materials, products’ unaccessible to market, and unfit in warehouses.It overcame the huge pressure on production security brought by epidemic prevention and control, and started to resume work in an orderly manner.
Each unit adhered to the principle of localized management, established corresponding emergency work institutions basic on reality, formulated and resolutely carried out clear plans, and also, eliminated the mentality of fluke. We also implemented the daily reporting and zero reporting system, which means have a report even when there does not appear new condition. We do not conceal, miss, and misreport any changes of the epidemic.
Set up an Emergency Professional Team
The new coronavirus was so fierce that JISCO held an emergency meeting at the first time. In the meeting, we established a new coronavirus prevention and control system, with the Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Board as the commander, the Deputy Secretary
of the Party Committee and General Manager as the deputy commander, and other company leaders as members, and jointly combated the epidemic.
The emergency office of the command system (short for emergency office) is located in the company and undertakes daily work. The office consists of six professional teams, which are responsible for public health management, safety and security management, emergency material security, and personnel control and coordination, security of production, public opinion guidance and psychological guidance.

The headquarters of JISCO has formulated a detailed work plan from three aspects: catering, commuting,and customer service center building. All relevant units resolutely obeyed the unified command, unified coordination and unified dispatch of the company’s epidemic prevention and control command, and did what they were told to do and not to do, so as to effectively do all the prevention and control work. At the same time, the relevant plan is quickly conveyed and disseminated to every employee, strictly monitored the implementation. There is a must to ensure that the epidemic prevention and control work is efficient in an orderly manner. We are determined to fight and win the battle against the epidemic by ensuring the safety of employees’ lives and health, and the security of production.
Social Support
In the battle against the epidemic, JISCO employees have stood up for themselves, building a great wall of steel to win the battle and write a touching hymn of life. The company quickly supplied materials for Leishenshan hospital, helped construct Huoshenshan hospital, procured overnight the epidemic prevention supplies, gave up vacation and back to working position, and volunteered to donate and so on. JISCO’s employees show in every front of the epidemic prevention and control and stable production, leaving a figure of initiative, respectability, and dedication. JISCO has carried out a series of initiatives in supporting the construction of Leishenshan Hospital, ensuring enough hospital’s oxygen, fulfilling the needs of people’s livelihood, and volunteering to support Wuhan in fighting the epidemic.
