Recently, Jiu Steel’s (JISCO) first roll of wide super austenitic stainless steel cold-rolled sheet and strip products successfully rolled off the line, which is the first time for Hongxing Stainless Steel Branch to produce 3.0×1500mm wide 904L stainless steel cold-rolled sheet and strip products. The successful launch of the product marks the stainless steel branch to fully open the wide super austenitic stainless steel process route, enriching the high-end stainless steel product range, and enhancing the level of manufacturing of high-end equipment and enterprise competitiveness of JISCO stainless steel.
904L stainless steel is the corrosion resistance and tensile stainless steel varieties, intergranular corrosion, pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking and general corrosion have good corrosion resistance, especially in dilute sulfuric acid has excellent corrosion resistance, widely used in chemical paper, sewage treatment and other industries, product-market prospects. This product is the stainless steel branch for continuous optimization of product structure, to further meet customer demand and the development of other successful product features, the first production of 20 tons of product surface quality, mechanical properties, corrosion resistance to the same level at home and abroad, has been delivered to customers.
Wide super austenitic stainless steel products with high added value, its unit price is six times that of ordinary stainless steel products. The steel grade has high alloy content, low C content, high requirements for steel purity, strong crack sensitivity during production, high-temperature deformation resistance, cast billets are prone to segregation, easy precipitation of brittle phases such as SIGMA and CHI, and narrow hot processing interval. In addition, the high alloy content of this steel grade, the rolling difficulty, the stainless steel branch equipment capacity and personnel operating skills bring challenges.
To ensure the first development of “hit rate”, stainless steel branch to overcome the difficulties, carefully developed R & D trial, production organization, process control, and other programs, and the organization of technical personnel to carry out special attacks, has carried out the original organization of the cast billet and homogenization process research, thermal deformation behavior and rolling gauge regression calculations, annealing pickling test, etc… Through repeated tests, the attacking team cracked one after another obstacle and problem that blocked the process route, and finally successfully produced a wide range of super austenitic stainless steel products with good surface quality and qualified mechanical properties.
