The international standard for ferronickel testing (ISO23156:2021), developed under the auspices of JISCO, has been officially released and implemented on the official website of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The standard was developed based on Chinese national standards drafted under the auspices of JISCO and will play an important role in promoting green, environmentally friendly, intelligent, and efficient quality arbitration testing during the world trade of ferronickel.
This international standard was first proposed by the Inspection and Testing Center of JISCO Group Corporation in 2013 and formally established in January 2018, with Zhu Weihua, director engineer of the Center, as the convener and person in charge of the project. After the establishment of the project, the project team strived for the support and collaboration of experts from various countries, and after nearly 1,000 groups of tests, nearly 100 arguments and dozens of rounds of communication and discussion, and going through many strict processes from the draft of the new project proposal to the draft of the publication, the draft standard was finally evaluated by the International Organization for Standardization Committee and unanimously approved by experts from various countries, and was unanimously adopted in December 2020 and officially promulgated on March 26, 2021. promulgated and implemented.
Ferronickel is an important alloy raw material for stainless steel production, and its quality test results directly affect the economic benefits of the production side and the user side. China is the world’s largest user of ferronickel, which requires the import of large amounts of ferronickel for stainless steel smelting every year, the release of international testing standards in the ferronickel trade process has an important role. Previously, the international standard for ferronickel testing was mainly based on the manual chemical analysis method for single element determination, which was time-consuming and labor-intensive and used a large number of dangerous chemical reagents. 2009 JISCO Inspection and Testing Center successfully developed the inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry method for copper, phosphorus, cobalt, chromium, and manganese in ferronickel, and completed the drafting and publication of the national standard for instrumental testing methods accordingly.
This is the first international standard for ferronickel testing developed under the auspices of JISCO, and is also the first ISO international standard proposal in our province to be established and promulgated, marking a breakthrough in technological innovation in the field of JISCO testing and a new level of standardization in testing and inspection, and the emergence of China JISCO voice and Gansu voice in international trade of ferronickel. The internationalization of China’s ferronickel testing standards has enhanced China’s influence and discourse in the field of international ferronickel standards.
